The Calcutta High Court on Thursday said it will not interfere with the decision of the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education to change the timing of the Class 10 examination starting from February 2. The High Court said that just two-three weeks before the secondary examination, changing its timing from 12:45 to 10:45 will affect the convenience of the candidates.

The High Court said that the lawyers of the State and the Board have submitted that the administrative steps/measures to provide necessary facilities for the examination have been completed and several lakh children will participate in this examination.

Justice Vishwajit Basu said that any interference in the above situation could have a serious impact on the examination process and that is why this court is refraining from interfering in the changes made in the examination timetable.

The High directed the Board and the State (Government) to ensure that the students do not face any trouble.

The High Court ordered the Board to open appropriate number of helplines for the candidates in all the districts. He said that if any student faces difficulty in reaching the examination centre, the board will take steps to ensure that the student reaches the center on time.
The court said that the board should submit the compliance report by next Wednesday.

This time too, requesting to conduct the examination at the same time as last year, the petitioner said that no reason was given for the change in the timing of the examination. The petitioner, a teacher, also said that reducing the time will affect the candidates.
