UPSC CSE Optional Subjects 2024: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started the application process for Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2024. Candidates who are dreaming of becoming IAS, IPS and fulfill the eligibility criteria can apply through the official website upsconline.nic.in by 5 March 2024. Candidates can visit upsc.gov.in to see the recruitment notification. Let us tell you, according to UPSC CSE Exam Center 2024, the preliminary exam will be conducted in 80 exam centers and the main exam will be conducted in 24 exam centers. The preliminary exam date is 26 May 2024 and the main exam date is scheduled for 20 September 2024. In such a situation, let us know how the question papers of previous years of optional subjects can be checked, so that the candidates can prepare for the examination.

First of all, for Civil Services Examination, UPSC provides a list of optional subjects. Candidates will have to choose one optional subject for the main examination. There are two papers in optional subject. Three hours are given to solve each exam. Apart from the Literature of Language papers, the question papers will be set in Hindi and English only. Optional paper plays an important role in UPSC Mains Exam.

Candidates who will appear in UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) can visit the official website to check the previous year question papers. Candidates can choose their optional subjects.

Know- About UPSC Prelims Exam

First of all, two papers are conducted in UPSC Prelims. These papers are, General Studies Paper – I, General Studies Paper II. It is also known as CSAT or Civil Services Aptitude Test. Both these papers are of 200 marks and in the first 100 questions are asked while in the second 80 questions are asked. UPSC Prelims is conducted in offline mode, in which candidates have to use paper and pen. Let us tell you, in these papers questions related to history, geography, economics, politics, environment, science and current affairs and other subjects are asked. According to the UPSC IAS exam pattern, negative marking of 0.33% marks is also done for each wrong answer. Therefore, candidates will have to be very careful while marking the answers.
