Service wise breakup of vacancies of UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 has been released. The Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions of the Central Government on Monday released the service-wise breakup of 1056 vacancies likely to be filled through the Civil Services Examination. According to this, there are 180 vacancies of IAS under UPSC CSE 2024 in which 73 posts are unreserved. 24 are reserved for SC, 13 ST, 52 OBC and 18 for EWS. There are 150 vacancies in IPS out of which 60 posts are unreserved. 23 posts are reserved for SC, 10 ST, 42 OBC and 15 EWS category.

Talking about IFS, 55 posts will be filled under this service from CSE 2024. 23 posts are unreserved. 9 posts are reserved for SC, 5 posts for ST, 13 for OBC, 5 for EWS. UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2024 will be held on 26 May 2024.

Through UPSC examination (UPSC CSE Notification 2024), officers will be selected for other all-India services including Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS). To appear in the main examination of Indian Forest Service examination, one has to pass UPSC Civil Services Prelims. That means the prelims exam of both the competitive exams will be common.

Selection Process
All applicants for UPSC Civil Services Examination have to first appear in the Prelims Exam. The candidates who pass this are called to appear in the mains exam. Those who pass Mains proceed to the Interview (Personality Test). The final merit list is prepared on the basis of performance in interview and mains exam. Mains exam is of 1750 marks and interview is of 275 marks.

UPSC Civil Services Prelims exam will be held in 80 cities.
