UPPSC RO ARO Exam: The ruckus over allegations of paper leak in the preliminary examination of Review Officer (RO)/Assistant Review Officer (ARO) 2023 of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission is not showing any signs of stopping. The situation remained due to guerrilla warfare throughout the day on Monday. Police forcefully arrested 28 protesting students who were protesting at various places. The police also snatched away the mobile phones of some. After the holiday on Sunday, heavy force was deployed even before the opening of the Commission on Monday. Along with barricading, paramilitary forces were deployed at the entrance of the commission.

When some students came to protest, the police chased them away. The students ran away from there and reached the protest site at Patthar Church and started demanding cancellation of the examination. There some students pushed the police and started going towards the Commission, then the police used batons to stop them. This caused a stampede in the Civil Lines area. From there, dozens of students ran towards Subhash intersection and policemen also kept running behind them with sticks.

At Subhash intersection, some students tried to hide by entering the shops but the policemen took them out by their collar and took them by car to different police stations. Later, all the 28 students were taken out of the city to Naini police station where the students were not released till late in the night. Apart from this, there was a situation of run-and-catch between the students and the police at Dhobi Ghat, Hindu Hostel, Eklavya Square, Head Post Office, NIP Square, Hanuman Mandir Square etc. in Civil Lines. During the demonstration, ACP Shwetabh Pandey tried to convince the students. However, the students are adamant on their demand to cancel the examination.

Students were chased, video went viral
The video of policemen rushing students from Patthar Church towards Subhash Square during protests regarding RO/ARO examination went viral on social media platforms X and Facebook etc. on Monday. One user sarcastically wrote on X, ‘Jobs are being given in UP by running very fast..’, to which many others reacted. Someone taunted that he was going to give the appointment letter in a hurry while someone called it shameful.

Half of the room inspectors in RO/ARO were outsiders.
A new experiment of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission got suppressed due to allegations of paper leak in RO/ARO 2023. To curb cheating, the Commission had appointed 50 percent of the room invigilators from outside at all the examination centres. This was done so that the interference of the external chamber inspector would not cause any disturbance. This experiment has been happening in UP Board for a long time. For RO/ARO preliminary examination, 2387 centers were created in 58 districts of the state. Out of more than 10.70 lakh candidates who had applied, around 6.5 lakh appeared in the examination.
