The Cabinet has given green signal to the proposal to establish three private sector universities in the state, JSS University Noida, Saroj International University Lucknow and Sharda University Agra. In the cabinet held on Thursday, ‘Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2024’ has been promulgated and approval has been given to issue operation authorization letter to the sponsoring institution JSS Mahavidyapeeth C-20/1, Sector 62-Noida. Besides, the proposal to obtain the approval of the departmental minister and pass the draft of the bill to replace ‘Uttar Pradesh Private Universities (Third Amendment) Ordinance, 2024’ in the state legislature has been approved.

The proposal for the establishment of Saroj International University was submitted by the sponsoring institution Saroj Singh Shikshan Sansthan, Lucknow after the promulgation of Uttar Pradesh Private University (Establishment) Rules-2021. An evaluation committee was constituted by the government under the chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University to examine the proposal received. In view of the report of the evaluation committee, a letter of intent was issued to the sponsoring organization in compliance with the decision of the Cabinet on the basis of the recommendation of the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary.

Similarly, an evaluation committee was formed under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, to examine the proposal submitted by the sponsoring organization Anand Swaroop Educational Trust Agra under the Uttar Pradesh Private University (Establishment) Rules-2021 for the establishment of Sharda University in Agra. was formed. After its report, the cabinet gave approval on the basis of the recommendation of the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary.

Earlier, the state government had given green signal to start many new medical colleges from session 2023. Continuous efforts are being made to increase the level of education in the state and make it people-oriented.
