The Executive Council (EC) meeting was held on Friday at the Convention Hall of Delhi University (DU). It was decided that teachers from such educational institutions whose global ranking is lower than DU will not be able to do PhD. Apart from this, guidelines were approved for granting study leave to faculty members wishing to do PhD from foreign universities. Accordingly, non-PhD faculty members will have to mention the type of fellowship and its amount in their application along with details of the foreign university from which they wish to pursue PhD.

If the faculty member is already receiving any fellowship, the same must be declared while applying for study leave. The salary of the faculty member will be decided as per the existing rules and regulations of Delhi University.

Corona affected students will be able to complete incomplete degree
Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh said that the Corona period created unexpected challenges for the people. Due to this, the educational progress of many students was also adversely affected. Therefore, it has been decided to give a special opportunity to the students who have completed their academic period in 2021-22 and 2022-23 to complete their degree. Special rules will be made to implement this scheme.

Discussion on salaries of outsourcing workers
The matter of payment of wages at the rates notified by the Chief Labor Commissioner, Ministry of Labor and Employment, Government was also considered during the meeting. All categories of employees employed through outsourcing agencies will be paid salaries as per the rates notified from time to time by the Chief Labor Commissioner, Ministry of Labor & Employment, Government. M.Phil in Medicine Extending the validity of M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology and Psychiatric Social Work till the academic session 2025-26. Continuation was also approved by the EC.

75 percent relaxation for disabled candidates
A budget of Rs 1717.45 crore for the financial year 2024-2025 was also passed in the meeting. 75 percent relaxation in total fee for disabled candidates for admission in PhD was also approved.

There will be recruitment on Assistant Professor posts
In the meeting, along with approval for appointments to 8 professor, 16 associate professor and 48 assistant professor posts for the Faculty of Technology, 48 posts were also approved for non-academic departments as per different posts.
