School Education: Attendance of students of government primary schools and Kasturba Gandhi residential schools of the state will be recorded online from February 15. Director General of School Education, Kanchan Verma issued an order in this regard on Friday. Besides, strict instructions have also been given that the new system should be implemented strictly. After the new order, now a total of 1.92 crore students will have online attendance every day. Apart from this, complete details of how many students ate mid-day meal will also have to be sent online. All primary schools have already been given tablets for this.

However, no guidelines have been given yet in the order regarding the presence of teachers. In November last year, in seven districts including Lucknow, Unnao, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rae Bareli, Sitapur and Shravasti, arrangements were made to register online attendance of students as well as teachers, which the teachers openly opposed. Teachers had come out on protest due to which the Basic Education Department had to withdraw its foot in this matter. Probably keeping the same protest in mind, the Directorate General of Schools has now made arrangements to register the attendance of students online and the teachers have been spared.

It may be noted that it is being implemented in a total of 1.32 lakh primary schools in the state as well as 749 Kasturba Gandhi Girls Schools. After registering online attendance, the Principal will be able to send 100% correct attendance details only. He will not be able to show more student numbers. You will also be able to get accurate information about how many students are eating mid-day meal every day. Currently, there is a game in sending offline details. Attendance details of students will have to be sent compulsorily between 8 am to 9 am in the academic session from April 1 to September 30. Whereas from October 1 to March 31, it will be mandatory to send between 9 am to 10 am. Similarly, online details of mid day meal will have to be given by 12 noon in the academic session from April 1 to September 30. Whereas from October 1 to March 31, this details will have to be given by 1:30 pm.
