The percentage of students pursuing higher education in Indira Gandhi Open University is continuously increasing. According to the data released by IGNOU, about 72 percent of the students from rural areas of Bihar are enrolled for higher education. Half of the population has a major role in this. At present, 42 percent women are enrolling and studying in different courses from IGNOU. This is the reason why enrollment in IGNOU is happening in large numbers in Bihar. OBC students are getting maximum enrollment. About 36 percent students of OBC category are enrolling in IGNOU. The best thing is that the percentage of Scheduled Caste students taking enrollment in IGNOU is more than that of minority students. In IGNOU, 12 percent enrollment is from Scheduled Castes, while enrollment from minority community is 8.5 percent. The lowest enrollment is of students from economically weaker sections, only five percent. Another big reason for the increase in enrollment here is that studies through distance education have been stopped in all the universities in Bihar. Even enrollment in Nalanda Open University is closed.

Increase in Enrolment:
Dr. Abhilash Nayak, Regional Director of Indira Gandhi Open University, Patna, said that 17 districts come under this. Highest enrollment is from rural districts. There has been an unprecedented increase in enrollment recently. The reason is to provide every facility on time.
