In Uttar Pradesh, the mess has created hurdles in the education of MBBS students at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), Lucknow. The operation of the mess has come to a standstill for the last six months. As a result, students have to cook bread every morning and evening. The situation is such that even tea and breakfast are being prepared by the students in the hostel. Temporary arrangements have been made in the canteen which are inadequate. The institute has 200 MBBS seats. There are super specialty campus hostels for the students while the institute administration has taken flats on rent in Gomti Nagar extension. Which have been allotted to the students. Five batches of MBBS are being conducted. There are around 1000 MBBA students from different batches.

The mess is not functioning in the institute for the last six months. The mess was running on the first floor of SC Rai Hostel. Officials say that the tender of the old institute had ended. After this there is the tender process. In this, another institute won the tender. After that the new institute worked for some time. The operation of the mess stopped due to technical glitches. Since then the mess is not operating. Students are having to suffer the consequences of this. Students are cooking food in the hostel. Some people are forced to eat food in hotels. For the past few days, the arrangement of food to the students through token system has been started in the canteen of the institute. But this arrangement is temporary. Students living in Gomti Nagar extension are facing a lot of inconvenience for dinner.

NEET: Good news for NEET students, 1400 MBBS seats will increase in UP, 14 new medical colleges will open.

mess is necessary
Under the rules of the National Medical Commission, running of mess is mandatory for MBBS students in medical institutions. Despite this, the rules are being ignored in Lohia Institute. The situation is that till now the officers have not made any concrete efforts towards running the mess.
