Let us tell you, Maharashtra 10th class board examination is being organized. On the same day as the exam, Rishikesh, a class 10 student, performed the last rites of his father and left for the exam a few hours later.

Rishikesh’s father Ramnath Puri died suddenly on Thursday evening in his native village Dhalegaon in Ahmedpur tehsil, an official said. Rishikesh lives with his maternal uncle in Bori-Salgara village of Latur tehsil as he studies in Rajiv Gandhi Vidyalaya, while his examination center was at Zilla Parishad Secondary School in Bori village.

He said, ‘After getting information about his father’s death on Thursday evening, Rishikesh went to Dhalegaon. The last rites were performed on Friday morning. Since the examination center in Rishikesh was 100 km away from Dhalegaon and he would not have been able to reach there, Latur Divisional Board Chairman Sudhakar Telang and Group Education Officer Babanrao Dhokde ensured that he appeared for the examination in the village itself.

The official said that everyone is praising Rishikesh for the determination he showed in appearing for the examination despite losing his father. Although it may not have been easy for him to sit and write the exam after his father’s demise, many times such situations arise in life, which make you both weak and strong. Officials said the SSC examinations, which began on Friday across the state, were conducted smoothly at all 153 centers in Latur. A total of 39,071 students appeared in the examination.

In Latur tehsil, 14,065 students took the exam at 51 centres. In Ausa, 3,104 students took the exam at 13 centres, while in Nilanga, 4,001 students took the exam at 16 centres. 843 students took the exam at 4 centers in Shirur Anantpal and 1,293 in Dewani. The examination of students was conducted at six centres. In Udgir, the examination was conducted for 6,069 students in 25 centres. Whereas in Jalkot, 1,002 students took the exam in four centres.
