UPSC Success story: We often hear success stories of UPSC aspirants which inspire us. One such story is of IPS Safin Hasan. He is the son of a labourer, who cracked the UPSC Civil Services exam in 2018 with an All India Rank of 570. His achievement made him the youngest IPS officer at the age of 22. However, Safin’s journey to become an IPS was not easy. To achieve this position, he had to face many difficulties due to poor financial condition. Let us know about them.

Safin’s parents worked in a diamond unit, but they lost their jobs in the year 2000. According to reports, to manage the household expenses, his mother started working as a cook in others’ homes, while his father carried bricks during the day and set up a stall to sell boiled eggs in the evening. However, due to poor circumstances, his parents did not let Safin’s studies stop.

Know about Safin

Safin Hasan was born on 21 July 1995. He completed his schooling from Kanodar village in Gujarat. Due to the poor financial condition of his family, the school had waived his fees for class 11th and 12th. When he enrolled in an engineering institute, Safin relatives helped him pay the tuition fees. Let us tell you, Safin has been good in studies since the beginning. During his college studies, he had decided that he would appear in the UPSC examination, but fate had something else in store. Safin was going to appear for the UPSC exam in 2017 when he was seriously injured in an accident, however, he did not miss the exam that day and appeared for the exam. He was later admitted to the hospital with serious injuries, for which he had to undergo several operations and physiotherapy sessions. Safin’s hard work, who appeared for the examination after the accident, paid off. He had passed the UPSC exam with 570th rank. Let us tell you, on December 23, 2019, he got the post of Assistant Superintendent of Police in Jamnagar district of Gujarat.

In an interview with a news portal, Safin Hasan had told that he got the inspiration for this from his district magistrate who once visited his school. After that special meeting, Safin had decided to become an IAS officer. Let us tell you, Safin had also secured 34th rank in Gujarat PSC examination, after which he got the post of District Registrar. Although he wanted to become an IPS officer from the beginning, after which he gave the UPSC exam and was successful.
