UP Board will implement semester system from the new academic session in classes 9th to 12th. Under the National Education Policy 2020, there is a preparation to reduce the study burden on students through semester system. The entire session will be divided into eight different semesters. Students will appear for different parts of the syllabus in different semesters of the year. This will reduce the pressure and stress on students to appear for the huge syllabus exam at one go. Not only this, evaluation of students can also be done in less time. The student will know his weaknesses and will get an opportunity to improve them.

Arts, Commerce, Science streams ended
Under the National Curricular Framework brought to implement the National Education Policy 2020, now the Secondary Education Department of UP will eliminate Arts, Commerce and Science streams from the new session. According to the news of Amar Ujala, now only one stream will run in UP Board. The bonds of the stream will be broken. Arts students will be able to study science or commerce subjects. For example, if a student studying Physics and Chemistry from the Science side wants to study subjects like History and Political Science from the Arts side, then he will have the freedom to do so. Similarly, an Arts student will also be able to study subjects like Physics, Chemistry or Bio. In this way students will get a chance to study the subjects of their interest. Not only this, students will also be able to study skill based subjects.

What will be the pattern of semester exam?
In every semester examination, 50 marks questions will be experimental. Out of these, questions of 20 marks will have to be answered on the OMR sheet. There will be a written examination of 50 marks. Choices will be given in the questions in the written examination also.

According to the news, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Joint Education Director of Lucknow Division, said, ‘Many types of plans have been made for this in the new year. Like higher education, semester system will be implemented in secondary education department also. Like the marksheet, students will be given a holistic personality assessment certificate. This will include certificates for participation in sports, science exhibitions and other types of training work.
