The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released the list of 972 students who went abroad to study MBBS without obtaining the necessary eligibility certificates. The Commission has given these students 10 days to submit their certificate applications. NMC has stressed that if the certificate is not submitted within the stipulated time, the applications will be rejected. The Commission has also released a list of pending applications, which includes the names of the students, father’s name and application number.

NMC said in the official notice, “It has been observed that the applicants whose names are given in Annexure-I have gone abroad without obtaining the Student Eligibility Certificate. Therefore, the Board has advised all such applicants to update the necessary eligibility details on the NMC Eligibility Portal. “It has been decided to give 10 days time to submit the certificate. If the applicants mentioned in Annexure-1 do not submit the eligibility certificate within 10 days, their applications will be rejected.”

In October, NMC had invited applications for FMGE 2023 eligibility certificate. The Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the NMC identified some shortcomings when it reviewed the applications. Let us tell you that if you want to do medicine in India after studying medicine from abroad, then for this you have to pass the FMGE exam.

MBBS: Good news for MBBS students, they will get extra chance to pass the exam.

The NMC has also highlighted the guidelines of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 in the notice. According to the guidelines, a candidate will have to obtain an eligibility certificate from NMC within a certain date to take admission in a medical institution abroad. Without achieving this, no student can do MBBS from abroad. If a candidate does MBBS in any foreign institute without obtaining eligibility certificate from NMC, he will not be able to appear in the screening test in India.

NMC further said that the requirement of eligibility certificate to study abroad was introduced after the declaration of NEET UG 2019 results. Additionally, it has also been made mandatory that both Indian and Overseas Indian Citizen (OCI) students must qualify the NEET exam to be eligible for MBBS admission in foreign institutions.
