Mathematics Day speech in Hindi: Every year in India, 22 December is celebrated as National Mathematics Day. This day is dedicated to the magician of mathematics and the great mathematician of the country, Srinivas Ramanujan. This day is his birthday. Ramanujan was born on December 22, 1887 in Erode, Tamil Nadu. The Government of India had decided to celebrate Ramanujan’s birth anniversary as National Mathematics Day in the year 2012. Since then, every year 22 December is being celebrated as National Mathematics Day. The purpose of this day is to increase awareness among people about the importance of mathematics for the development of human life. The number 1729 is known as the Hardy Ramanujan number. Today we should remember the great legacy left by Ramanujan in the mathematical world.
On the occasion of National Mathematics Day, programs related to teaching and encouraging mathematics are organized in schools, universities, colleges and other educational institutions located in different states across the country. There are also many types of quizzes, poster and speech competitions. Efforts are made to generate and increase interest in mathematics among the students. Principal sir present here, respected teachers and my dear colleagues,
Today we are gathered here to celebrate National Mathematics Day. Here the day is dedicated to the great mathematician of our country, Srinivas Iyengar Ramanujan. Today, 22nd December, is the birth anniversary of mathematics magician Srinivasa Ramanujan. In view of Ramanujan’s great contribution in the field of mathematics, the Government of India had announced on 26 February 2012 that 22 December would be celebrated as National Mathematics Day.
Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on December 22, 1887 in a Tamil Brahmin Iyengar family in Erode, Tamil Nadu. He failed in the 12th examination due to his lack of interest in non-mathematical subjects. The school where he failed twice in 12th is today named after Ramanujan. Ramanujan mastered trigonometry at the age of 12. He developed many theorems. Invented many formulas. At a very young age, he surprised mathematicians around the world with his math magic.
In 1912, he started working as a clerk in the Madras Port Trust. Here his mathematical talent was recognized by his colleagues and he was referred to Trinity College, Cambridge University. In the year 1916 he took the degree of Bachelor in Science. He was elected to the Mathematical Society of London in 1917. In 1918, Ramanujan was elected a Fellow of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, the Royal Society and Trinity College, Cambridge. He returned to India in 1919. Srinivasa Ramanujan was just 33 years old when he died due to TB disease.
Friends, today is the day to pay tribute to Srinivas Ramanujan. He did not take any training in mathematics but on the basis of his passion and interest, he earned fame across the world. His life teaches us a lot. National Mathematics Day provides us an opportunity to acknowledge the role of mathematics as a catalyst of innovation. From shaping technological advancements to driving scientific breakthroughs, mathematics is the cornerstone of progress. We should encourage mathematical knowledge and its use. Mathematics forms the foundation of scientific progress and technological innovation.
