There are preparations to start DNB (Diplomate of National Board) studies in all the district and big hospitals in Bihar. DNB studies are expected to start in about a dozen district and other hospitals within the next 6 months. This will increase approximately 100 DNB PG level seats in the state. There is a possibility of getting recognition soon to start DNB studies.

The last date for online application for DNB is till 16 March. However, the aim of the Health Department is to start DNB studies in 33 district hospitals of the state. With the start of DNB studies in 33 hospitals, about 200 seats will increase. Recently, the concerned officials of these hospitals were also informed about the complete application process. The Health Department has given Rs 2.5 lakh to each hospital for its application.

Each hospital receives DNB recognition through the National Board of Examination for Medical Sciences. After the completion of the application process, the team of National Board of Examination for Medical Sciences will inspect the sadar hospitals. After this, permission will be given to study DNB in ​​these hospitals. Recently, in the meeting of the state level steering committee of DNB, it was recommended that doctors associated with DNB should not be transferred. There are preparations to form a committee for DNB at the district level also. The problems related to DNB in ​​the districts will be solved through the district level committee. Specialist doctors have also been deployed in Sadar hospitals for DNB. Due to better management, the process of getting National Quality Certificate (NQAS) for Sadar Hospitals is also going on. In this sequence, the department had decided to start DNB course in Sadar hospitals. For DNB, currently 6 seats have been given to Motihari Sadar Hospital, 2 seats to Sitamarhi and 4 seats to LNJP Haddi Hospital.

what will be the benefit
District hospitals suffering from shortage of doctors will benefit. The studying doctors will be MBBS degree holders, who will serve in the hospital. This will provide convenience to the patients. Doctors coming here to pursue higher education will be able to enroll in DNB course after passing NEET. To start DNB studies, class-room, library etc. will be constructed. Along with this, accountants, departmental managers, data operators, fourth class and security guards etc. will also be made available.

The degree in DNB is of three years while the diploma is of two years. With its commencement, MBBS passed students from Bihar and outside Bihar will come to study in District Sadar Hospitals. Along with their studies, they will also get additional allowance every month from the government.
