Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that students will have the option to appear for class 10th and 12th board exams twice from the academic session 2025-26. Pradhan was addressing the function to launch the ‘PM Shree’ (Prime Minister School for Rising India) scheme in Chhattisgarh. Under this scheme, 211 schools in the state will be upgraded. The ceremony was organized at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Raipur. Highlighting the Centre’s plan under the National Education Policy, Pradhan said that from the academic session 2025-26, students will get the opportunity to appear in the class 10th and 12th board exams twice. He said that through the new education policy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to keep the students stress-free, enrich them with quality, keep them connected with culture and prepare them for the future and this is the formula to make India a developed country by 2047. .

Let us tell you that a few days ago an official of the Education Ministry had said that the system of 10th and 12th board examination will be implemented twice from this year itself. Academic session 2024-25 will be the first batch whose students will get a chance to appear for board examinations twice a year. Earlier in October 2023, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had also said that from 2024, the board examinations for class 10th and 12th will be held twice a year. But now the Education Minister has made it clear that this new rule will not come from 2024 but from 2025.

This option is being introduced to reduce the stress caused by the fear of getting an opportunity once. If a student is not satisfied with the score of the first time examination then he/she can appear in the examination again next time. Only the best score of the students appearing in both the board examinations of the year will be taken. The merit of the result will be made on the basis of best score.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will provide new curriculum books for all classes under the National Education Policy 2020 and National Curriculum Framework.
