The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will implement the system of 10th and 12th board examination twice from this year. That means the academic session 2024-25 will be the first batch, whose students will get a chance to appear in the board examinations twice a year. An official of the Education Ministry has given this information. Earlier in October 2023, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had also said that from 2024, the board examinations for class 10th and 12th will be held twice a year.

According to the news published in Times of India, the Education Ministry official has also said that it will not be mandatory for the students of class 10th and 12th to appear in the examination twice a year. He said, ‘This option is being introduced to reduce the stress caused by the fear of getting the opportunity once. If a student is not satisfied with the score of the first time examination, he can appear in the examination again next time.

Students who will be in class 10th and 12th this year can get a chance to appear for their first board exam in November-December 2024 this year. After this, their second board exam will be held in February-March 2025. Only the best score of the students appearing in both the examinations will be taken. The merit of the result will be made on the basis of best score. The complete outline of the examination will be prepared twice a year before the start of the new session.
