Nursing colleges in Bihar will get recognition only after double verification. From giving recognition to its quality checking, the scope will also increase. Recognition of institutions under the new provision will begin by the end of April. For this, the Health Department has signed an agreement with the Quality Council of India. According to this, now before giving recognition to new institutions for running courses, the state unit of Quality Council of India will check twice. On the basis of the report of this investigation, the scrutiny committee formed in BNRC (Bihar Nursing Registration Council) will recommend for recognition. After this, final recognition will be given at the level of Additional Chief Secretary and Health Minister.

Earlier the number of government nursing institutions in the state was 104. After 17 more institutions got recognition this week, this number has increased to 121. The number of non-government nursing institutions is 504. ANM, GNM and B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc and M.Sc Nursing are taught here. There is an annual enrollment capacity of about 27 thousand in various courses in government and private nursing institutions.

Officials of the state unit of Quality Council of India will wear body cameras while inspecting nursing institutions. On the basis of their cameras, officials at the headquarters will do live monitoring. During this, the trainers, students present in the nursing institute will see the infrastructure including lab and library.

There will also be grading of institutions
Under the new provision, grading of all government and private nursing institutions will also be done. There will be four grades: A, B, C and D. Nursing institutions will get grade on the criteria of Indian Nursing Council. Grading of nursing institutions will be visible on BNRC portal. Through grading, students enrolling in these institutions will be able to avoid fraud. The team of officers will also conduct frequent surprise inspections in the institutions, so that the education here is better. The responsibility of creating a live monitoring app has been given to Beltron.

Quality improvement in nursing institutions is a priority of the government. Grading of all nursing institutions will be done. At present, based on the NOC of the DM and Civil Surgeon of the concerned district, based on the investigation report of a four-member committee of the Health Department (Additional Director, Gynecological Head, Principal of two nursing institutions) at the level of Additional Chief Secretary of the department and Health Minister. On the basis of NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the District Magistrate and Civil Surgeon of the concerned district, the state unit of Quality Council of India will conduct a preliminary investigation of the site of the institute and submit the report to BNRC (Bihar Nursing Registration Council). A four or six member team of BNRC will investigate and approve further action. After this the concerned institute will deposit the fees (50 thousand rupees). After this, again the state unit of QCI will submit the investigation report of the institutions including infrastructure, teachers, library, lab etc. to BNRC along with the evidence. Then the scrutiny committee here will recommend the final recognition to the government. After this, recognition will be given at the level of senior officials of the department and Health Minister.
