After qualifying the Civil Services Examination (CSE) examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), candidates are appointed to the posts of Indian Police Service (IPS) according to their rank. To become an IPS officer, one has to undergo rigorous training, for which they also have to clear physical and medical examinations.
Let us tell you, there is no need to pass the physical examination to become an IAS officer, but for the recruitment of IPS, the height and weight of the candidates are considered.
A candidate does not become an IPS just because his name appears in the final list of UPSC, but he has to complete a very challenging training. After the foundation course at LBSNAA, candidates selected for the post of IPS are sent to the National Police Academy Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVPNPA), Hyderabad, where their rigorous training begins. During training they are mainly strengthened physically and mentally.

In such a situation, their schedule during training is quite rigorous and challenging. The weight rules for becoming a police officer in the Indian Police Service are not clearly defined. However, it is important that the officers remain fit.
